OPEN ADMISSION, NO KILL SHELTERS IN NORTH AMERICA

Many people believe that a shelter or animal control facility, which is "Open Admission" (meaning that they cannot say no to intakes) cannot also be a No Kill shelter.  (No Kill means to save at least 90% of all animals entering the facility).   But, the people who believe this are mistaken.

Today, there are over 90 Open Admission shelters and animal control facilities who are saving roughly 90% of all animals.  Some of them have Save Rates as high as 99%.!  These 90+ Open Admission, No Kill shelters represent and/or service about 300 cities and towns across America.

A list of these shelters is shown below.   This list is current as of March, 2013.  (Information taken from the No Kill Communities website)

Do not believe the myth that an Open Admission shelter cannot stop killing healthy and treatable pets.
